About Chat Friend
Chat Friend is a free anonymous chat platform built for people who want to talk to someone new without setting up an account, verifying an email, or handing over personal data. Pick a nickname, choose a room, and start talking — that's it.
Why we built it
The internet was supposed to make it easier to meet people, but most modern platforms have turned into walled gardens: sign up, verify a phone number, hand over your address book, wait to be approved. We wanted to bring back the feel of the early web — jump into a room, find someone interesting, have a real conversation.
Chat Friend is that place. It runs entirely in your browser, keeps your identity to just a nickname, and disappears the moment you close the tab. No profile to maintain. No followers. No algorithm deciding who you meet next.
How it works
- Enter a nickname, gender, and country. These are purely for other people in the room to see. They're never linked to an account because there isn't one.
- Join a public room. We have General, Music, Sports, Movies & TV, and Gaming. Every room is a live conversation.
- Message publicly or privately. Click any name in the sidebar to open a private 1-on-1 chat. Nothing you send is tied to a real identity — but please still be kind.
- Leave when you're done. Closing the tab ends your session. There's nothing to log out of and nothing to delete.
What we don't do
- We don't require an email address or phone number.
- We don't build a profile of you across visits.
- We don't sell your messages to anyone.
- We don't allow harassment, illegal content, or under-18 users.
How we keep the lights on
Chat Friend is supported by display advertising. You'll see ads around the chat window and between messages, clearly labeled as such. Ads help us cover hosting costs so the chat itself can stay free forever — no premium tier, no paywall.
