Community Rules
Chat Friend works because everyone in the room follows a short set of rules. Breaking them gets you removed from the room; repeated breaks get your session blocked. All rules apply in public rooms and in private 1-on-1 chats.
You must be 18 or older
Chat Friend is not for minors. If you are under 18, you may not use this service. If we learn that a user is under 18, we terminate their session immediately.
No harassment or hate speech
No slurs, threats, targeted insults, doxxing, or content that attacks people based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or nationality. Disagreement is fine. Cruelty isn't.
No sexual content or nudity
Chat Friend is a general-audience chat platform, not an adult site. Sexual messages, sexual role-play, requests for nudes, and links to adult content are all removed on sight. This applies in private chats too.
No illegal content
No content that is illegal where you are or where our servers are hosted: this includes drug sales, weapons trafficking, hacking-for-hire, stolen data, and — absolutely and without exception — any content that sexualizes minors.
No spam or scams
Don't paste the same message repeatedly, don't promote get-rich-quick schemes, crypto pumps, gambling sites, or affiliate links. Don't impersonate the Chat Friend team. Automated bots aren't welcome.
Don't share personal information
Don't post your own address, phone number, workplace, school, or full name — and never post someone else's. Chat Friend is anonymous on purpose. Doxxing another user results in an immediate ban.
Respect other users' consent
If someone doesn't want to chat with you, leave them alone. Repeatedly opening private chats with someone who has closed you out is harassment.
English or the room's stated language
Rooms default to English. Some rooms may declare a different primary language in their description. Chatting off-topic in another language makes moderation harder for everyone.
How moderation works
We use a combination of automated filtering and human review. Messages you send are checked against a profanity and abuse filter in real time. Reports from other users are reviewed by moderators. We keep the minimum amount of data needed to enforce these rules and no more.
Report abuse
To report a user, note their nickname and a short description of what happened and email abuse@chatfriend.example. Emergencies involving imminent harm to a person should be reported to local emergency services first.
